LAL BAAG PALACE is a grand legacy of the Holkar dynasty. A 25 ft
high statue of the diety is housed in the BADA GANPATI TEMPLE. The
200 yr old wood and stone palace at RAJWADA, the erstwhile palace
of the Holkars, is a signature monument of Indore. KANCH MANDIR,
a Jain temple, is an architectural marvel of glasswork. The temple
devoted to the Goddess of food, ANNAPURNA TEMPLE and the cenotaphs
of the Holkars at the CHHATRI BAAG, are also worth a visit.
DEWAS is famous for the Chamunda Devi Temple. MHOW,23 km away, is
a quaint,lovely army cantonment, having some of India’s prestigious
military training establishments.
OMKARESHWAR, 77 km from Indore, is located on the confluence of
the rivers Narmada and Kaveri, and is a holy centr of pilgrimage
for the Hindus. MAHESWAR, 90 km away, erstwhile capital of the Holkars,
is also well known for the maheshwari saris.
