| In
Rishikesh there are many important Hindu temples with the maximum
dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu. BHARAT MANDIR is reputedly the oldest
here. NILKANTH MAHADEV MANDIR is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Regarded
as the most important place for religious ceremonies is the RAGHUNATH
MANDIR and the dusk aarti on the TRIVENI GHAT is very solemn and
impressive. Some of the well known Ashrams are- Sivanand Ashram,
Yoga Niketan, Omkaranand Ashram, Geeta Bhawan, Swargashram and Parmarth
Niketan. The delicately fashioned Suspension bridges of LAKSHMAN
JHOOLA and RAMJHOOLA span the river Ganges.
Rishikesh is the gateway for the 'yatra' to the 'Char(4) Dhams'
of BADRINATH, KEDARNATH, GANGOTRI AND YAMUNOTRI and the Sikh Gurudwara
at HEMKUND SAHIB. HARIDWAR, AULI and VALLEY OF FLOWERS are also
easily approachable from here.
